God provides for His plans

God Will Provide For His Plans

“God, you’ve got the wrong person,” I said, when God told me to be a writer. I had a lot of questions. What will I write? How do I start? Did God really say that?

Have you ever felt God’s call for something you felt unequipped for, such as leading a small group, teaching a class, volunteering in the nursery at church, or telling your neighbor about Jesus?

I knew how Moses felt when God told him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. I had all kinds of excuses and self-doubt, just like he did (Exodus 4:1, Exodus 4:10-13).

But Moses followed God’s direction and brought the Israelites out of Egypt. Once they were in the wilderness, God gave Moses detailed instructions to build the Tabernacle, a place where God dwelled and met with the people.

Do you wonder how former slaves in the wilderness, who rushed out of Egypt in a tremendous hurry, got the raw materials and skilled labor to build a house for God?

God supplied the plans for the Tabernacle, the raw materials required to build it, and skilled workers to create it. Certainly, God does the same for us today. He provides for His plans and prepares us to carry them out.

God provides for His plans

While the people of Israel were still slaves in Egypt, God instructed Moses, “Tell the people that men and women alike are to ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold” (Exodus 11:2). The Egyptian people gave generously of their valuables because “the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians” (Exodus 11:3 ESV).

After the final plague, the day finally arrived when Pharoah told Moses he would release the Israelites. While camped at Mount Sinai, God revealed His directions for building the Tabernacle, a portable structure for sacrifice and worship. (Read more about the Tabernacle in Exodus 35:4-39:42.)

Meanwhile, Moses asked the Israelites to give a sacred offering for the Lord to supply building materials for the Tabernacle (Exodus 35:4-9). The people contributed a multitude of precious gifts including gold, silver, bronze, fine linen, acacia wood, spices, and precious gems, because they received all this wealth from the Egyptians before they left Egypt (Exodus 12:35-36).

In the same way, God provides the resources and materials for His plans today.

When God called me to write, I did not know where to start. But He provided resources for me to learn and grow, such as an online group for training, connections, and community called Compel. Later, God led me to the Daniel Plan and my niche, wellness according to God’s Word.

God prepares us

How did former slaves know how to build an intricate portable house for God? We find the answer in scripture, “The Lord has gifted Bezalel, Oholiab, and the other skilled craftsmen with wisdom and ability to perform any task involved in building the sanctuary. Let them construct and furnish the Tabernacle, just as the Lord has commanded” (Exodus 36:1 NLT).

Just like God prepared the builders of the Tabernacle, He gives gifts and abilities to ordinary people like you and me to implement His plans.

I realized God prepared me for writing my blog and ministry of wellness my whole life. The science courses I took in college prepared me for understanding the biochemistry of nutrition and health. My years of working in Information Technology equipped me to set up and maintain my website. And Bible Study Fellowship prepared me to study and interpret scripture.

God has a purpose and a plan for everyone, including you! Do you know the amazing plans God has for you? If not, ask Him for insight. If you are afraid you aren’t good enough or do not have the skills you need, remember God provides for His plans and prepares us to carry them out.
