Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6, ESV).
The only time I completely lost my way was leaving Charleston, South Carolina. No cellphones or GPS back then. But I had a map. However, a map doesn’t help if you are not where you think you are. When I stopped at several gas stations, no one offered directions I could follow.
I lost my way in other respects. Lost in sin, carrying heavy baggage from rejection and divorce. I depended on a man for happiness, comfort and security, ignoring the directions from my childhood upbringing in the church.
Friend, are you lost? Are you seeking fulfillment in someone or something other than Jesus? I understand the struggle. Let’s examine the truth in God’s Word.
Jesus is the only way
The Bible states Jesus is the only way to perfect peace with God. Jesus lived a sinless life, crucified as the final blood sacrifice. He rose on the third day, reconciling us with God, who created us for His glory. The only way to approach God is through Jesus because, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, ESV).
Jesus finds us where we are
I assumed Jesus would find me only after I cleaned up my act. Not true.
Consider the Samaritan woman Jesus found at the well (John 4:4-26). Jesus chose her as the first person to tell He was the Messiah, despite her unsavory past, and her race and gender (John 4:26). And this was the longest recorded conversation Jesus had with anyone.
The door is open
The Greek word for door in the New Testament is thura, meaning physical entrance or an opportunity. Jesus says, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9, ESV).
Step through the door of opportunity to spend eternity in heaven. As the song “Amazing Grace” declares, “I once was lost but now I’m found.”
Do you yearn to be found? Believe Jesus died for you and accept His forgiveness. Turn from sin and find fulfillment only in Him.
Yes, I discovered the way out of the maze of bridges in Charleston to my earthly home. And I await my future heavenly home with Jesus. Do you?
If you believe Jesus is the only way, pray this prayer or a similar one today.
Prayer
Dear God, thank you for creating me and loving me. I realize I am a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. Thank you for sending Your son Jesus to earth to pay the price for my sins. I want a relationship with You. I choose to trust you and do Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Well said Susan!
Thank you so much for reading and for your comment, Kim. I appreciate it so much.
Susan, this is thrilling news to both the lost and the found! Thank you for your clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ!
Thank you Jackie. I appreciate your support of my writing. It means a lot to me.
This is your best post yet!
Thank you so much Judy!
I appreciated your words, too! I like your post about the Samaritan woman- I’ve just been listening to a podcast that emphasized the Jesus went out of His way to meet with her. What an encouragement to remember that God can find us right where we are. We don’t have to be “good.”
Hi Carly, thanks so much for your comment. I agree, so comforting and encouraging Jesus went out of His way to find her!
