One year ago, I saw my mom in the nursing home for the last time. If I knew this, I would have taken a selfie of us, hugged and kissed her again, and stayed longer instead of being in a hurry to beat the rush hour traffic. Two months later, mom died.
I imagine you are like me; I dislike suffering. However, 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” All circumstances? Really, God? Why should I give thanks for suffering?
I stormed out of the office after my angry retort in response to yet another snide remark from my coworker. My stomach clenched with anger.
However, God taught me a lot during this challenging season of my life, especially the four T’s—tame the tongue, resist temptation, turn from sin, and be transformed.
God revealed a fresh idea about my word for 2021, overflow, from the story of Abraham in the Bible. Seek the Blesser, instead of the blessings. All we have to do is believe and receive the overflow of blessings from God, His love, mercy, and grace.
